This is a tough one (of course), but mainly down to the fact that I watch everything late. So last year I caught up on all of 2016's best films, but missed a lot of the new cinema releases. One of my new years goals is to see more films in the cinema rather than waiting to stream/rent them.
My favourite non 2017 film of the year that I watched was by far, Hidden Figures. What. A. Film.
In terms of my favourite film of 2017, I'm probably going to have to go for Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, which reminded me why I want to make films. Honourable mentions include Get Out, It, Thor: Ragnarok and The Lost City of Z.
Favourite TV Series
This one has to be a tie between Netflix's Godless and Mindhunter, both of which were so god damn good. If you haven't watched either then I highly recommend them for 2018.
Favourite Short Film
Again, I was late to a few shorts this year. Jim Cummings, Thunder Road, was my fave short of the year, but while putting this together I've seen that it was from 2016.
In terms of a 2017 release, I really loved Yes, God, Yes by Karen Maine.
Favourite Music Video
This. By far, this.
110% Process by Sampha. Again honourable mention here is Khalid's American Teen which I fricken LOVED.
In 2017 I finally started "reading" regularly again. I really battle with reading books for some reason, especially fiction. After desperately wanting to read Stephen King's On Writing, I bought it as an audiobook to see if that would help me to get back into books. Six books later I'm getting back into the groove and re-discovering how wonderful the written word is.
Conn Iggulden's Conqueror series has been a real highlight for me, I'm plowing through the series (1 book left to go!). Each book is written so well, but the second book in the series holds the top spot for me, Lords of the Bow.
